Here at Cahoots HQ we like to start the day by spending time reviewing the latest news and current events over a cup of tea before we start the day.
It is becoming more and more common over the last month that data breach stories are hitting the headlines, this is all part of the build up to the 25th of May GDPR compliance deadline.

This morning's headline in the Daily Mail read:
Restaurant apologises for trying to shame diner who didn't turn up by publicly sharing her name, email and mobile number
In short this is the story of an independent restaurant owner who decided to name and shame a patron who didn't show up to her dinner reservation. He publically posted her name, email address, and phone number on popular social media site Twitter, a breach that will be taken very seriously by the ICO and could have detrimental effects on his business.
For us this highlights how GDPR will impact ALL businesses who have any personal data on file, as this could potentially be misused to cause harm or distress to the data subject.
We have expertise in all areas of business from recruitment to media, and enjoy networking with businesses in the local Birmingham area to raise awareness of the GDPR.
One common statement we hear from SME's is - "We've sent out our GDPR emails, we are covered" this really is worrying for us, as most businesses think GDPR just covers E-business but the fact is it covers any personal information you hold as a business, your invoicing, employees details past and present and also customer information. PAPER FILES are also covered by GDPR and this is something that is not being conveyed well enough.
Please do not be caught out by GDPR, we can talk to you about your plans for compliance, if you have everything in hand we will wish you well. However if you are unsure about what you are doing we have packages that cover all budgets, from as little as £250.
